This slideshow is dedicated to Reiko-chan, who loved music, especially the sound of saxophone, and appreciated the beauty of flowers and horses.

It's "Carrot Time" for Robin-chan and Bram-chan, both 20 years old. I could see Daltanian-chan behind Robin-chan. I bet Daltanian-chan wanted carrots too.

I visited Yokohama Equine Museum to see Robin-chan and other horses there. Birds were twittering among the trees and Jasmine-chan (former name: Sakurahime) seemed to be half-asleep standing alone on the ground.

Rest in Peace, Reiko-chan (26th July, 1957 - 19th May, 2010)

My cousin, Reiko-chan, passed away at 11:25 p.m., 19th May, 2010, Wed.

She was diagnosed with cancer in 2007 and had been receiving treatment for the last 2.5 years. She was in and out of hospital, but wanted to stay at home when there was nothing they could do.

We had been writing to each other after her father died on 20th October, 2006. It's strange but we had never talked to each other before that, even though we were cousins.

I received the sad news Thursday night. Since she had written to me that she could no longer eat or drink, I knew that this day would come, but still ...

I went to see my aunt, Reiko-chan's mother, Friday and attended the wake that night, and attended the funeral Saturday.

Reiko-chan looked very pretty in the photo, which was taken three years ago. What she had to endure for the last 2.5 years is beyond my imagination. Only my aunt and my cousin, Ma~chan (Reiko-chan's brother) know how much she had to suffer.

She used to call me "Miwako-oneesan" (Big Sister Miwako) in her letters, as she was five years younger than I was and didn't have any sisters. I think I liked it as I had never been called that way, being the youngest in my family.

I am worried about my aunt, who lives alone now. She lost her husband in 2006 after taking care of him for years while he was bed-ridden, and now her daughter.

Today, 17th May, 2010, was the 60th Anniversary of Bank of India, Tokyo Branch.

I found a tiny kitten, only a few days old, with an umbilical cord, when I came back from work Friday night. I took him to my vet and it turned out he had been badly injured at the side and one of his rear legs had swollen, twice as big as his normal leg. I don't know how long he had been abandoned there, but I heard him cry when I was opening my mail box. Such a tiny creature, black & white like my cats, lying on the newspapers in a cardboard box...

My vet said he might need a surgery to cut off the bad leg afterwards and that he might not survive. But I was optimistic when I heard him cry.

So it was quite a shock to me when my vet called me next morning to inform me that the little one did not make it. He weighed less than 100 grams.

I took him to Ekouin, a temple in Ryogoku, Sumida-ku, Tokyo, the following morning. Ekouin is well-known for accepting both humans and animals. Meme-chan (Chibi-chan's friend) and Kiki-chan (Chibi-chan's little cat brother) sleep there.

We gathered to celebrate Mother's Day Saturday (instead of Sunday). My father (92 years old) played ping-pong with my sister after lunch. He seems to enjoy playing ping-pong.

Coo-chan and I were listening to "Tada Aitakute" by SAPATOS on 6th May, 2010. (Coo-chan's eyes are following my camera strap.)

Coo-chan (Chris) listening to his lullaby "Come to Me, Bend to Me" by Adam Lambert. Coo-chan is no longer a kitten. His birthday falls on sometime this month.

I visited Yokohama Equine Museum Saturday, 1st May, 2010. I could see my favorite horse, Robin-chan, there. He became 20 years last month.
